Question of the Day

If you have a hypnosis audio file, you can listen to it again and get hypnotized.

If you have a hypnosis text, I'm assuming you can reread it and get hypnotized.

However, if you have a saved chat log and you reread it, would you get hypnotized, or would it feel more like revisiting a memory?

  1. The simple answer may be yes, to the extent that you believe that you will.

There's little evidence that hypnosis provides anything but an excuse to comply; the same as a spell or a religious ceremony, or losing all your inhibitions after one sip of beer. This seems relatively accepted, even among practitioners who believe that it may be effective. Most attempts to use hypnosis in military or police interrogations, for example, have been abandoned.

So it's not really mind control, except in the same sense as if you had been taught to always honor and obey your husband, or if you agreed with your partner that when you wore certain clothing you would do only as he told.

There's people who believe in the NLP thing. They're the ones who tend to touch you at odd moments (I am male, by the way) during a negotiation. I've met relatively senior executives who said that it worked; and it probably does to some extent, though probably not better than any other salesman's tricks.

That said, please don't stop masturbating to it.

  2. I suppose it would depend on how your brain approached the file in question. Reading it as a memory would probably put it into a memorial context, whereas reading it for the induction itself would probably trigger a trance.

(And yes, please, don't stop masturbating to thoughts of mind control. ;) )
